About Carla
Carla is a long time Missoula resident. As a Family Nurse
Practitioner, she provides primary care services including
medications, ordering appropriate diagnostic tests and screening
services. She refers to appropriate specialists when needed.
Some people don't know what to expect when they see a nurse
practitioner. Most are surprised by the thoroughness, the time
spent listening and obtaining a full history, the amount of
information provided to help them understand how to care for
themselves, what to expect of their medication or treatment and the
compassionate understanding of the impact of their problem on
their life.
Carla believes it is imperative to work as a team with you, and with
specialty physicians when needed. Some patients consult her for
some services and maintain their primary care elsewhere. Carla
tries to keep the primary care provider "in the loop" with the patient's
permission.
Background
Carla originated from Florida, but since arriving in Missoula in 1985
has always felt that Montana was her real home. She has an
extensive background in hospital nursing in emergency care,
critical care and cardiac care. She pursued graduate studies at
Gonzaga University and was credentialed in 1996 as a Family
Nurse Practitioner.
Since then, she has provided the full range of family practice
services-initially in Superior, Montana and then Missoula. In 2004,
she opened Health Solutions and focused on peri-menopausal
problems and pelvic floor problems. The demand for primary care
services has led her to offer those first to her established patients
and now to new patients.
She loves playing in the outdoors, gardening and her dogs. She
and her husband, Michael, have two grown girls between them.
Together, she and Michael work on following the same advice
Carla gives patients: eat healthy, be active, and deflect stress by
practicing being "in the moment".
